Dr. Jerome Canady

Dr. Canady received his BA (German and minor in Russian languages) from Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pa. and a Doctorate of Medicine from Temple University. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC McKeesport Hospital) and his postdoctoral fellowship in Immunology and clinical fellowship in Organ Transplantation at Yale University School of Medicine/Yale New Haven Hospital. He continued his studies as a clinical fellow and visiting surgeon in the department of Visceral and Organ Transplantation, at the Virchow Klinikum Humboldt University in Berlin.
After his fellowship in Berlin, Dr. Canady returned to Pittsburgh as an Advanced Fellow of Multivisceral & Intestinal Transplantation (Adult & Pediatric) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute and UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Canady is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and certified by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He has 25 years of experience in clinical surgery and medicine as well as 29 years of experimental and clinical research in plasma electrosurgery. He is an innovator and was the first to invent argon plasma coagulation for flexible endoscopy (U.S. patent no. 5,207,675). Dr. Canady is currently a Research Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (School of Engineering and Applied Sciences) at George Washington University (Washington, D.C.), where he also holds the position of Co-Director of the George Washington University/USMI Plasma Initiative Program.

Dr. Rose is one of three founders of and a Director of Transplant Genomics Inc. Dr. Rose is a PhD biologist, seasoned biotechnology executive and serial entrepreneur. He has spent over two decades working with leading scientists and clinicians to create substantial commercial value from inventions based on genome technology.
Highlights from Dr. Rose’s career include serving as CEO of NimbleGen Systems, a microarray-products company, from 2003 through its acquisition by Roche in 2007; co-founding and growing Genetic MicroSystems, a microarray-instrumentation company that was acquired by Affymetrix in 2000; and directing the PCR business for Perkin-Elmer and Applied Biosystems during its most dynamic growth phase in the 1990s. Since 2008, Dr. Rose has served as President of Rose Ventures, a firm that provides consulting and directing to select clients in the life science research products space, and manages a portfolio of public and private equity investments. Dr. Rose currently serves as Chairman of Nabsys, and as a member of the Boards of Invenra, and the Board of Managers of SerumDPT LLC (past board member of Cellular Dynamics International). Brad Helfand

Brad Helfand is an experienced health care operating executive with a background in management consulting and new venture development. Mr. Helfand is responsible for the growth and performance strategy for Vous. He was previously a Managing Director at Healthscape Advisors, a management consulting firm, with leadership over the health care provider practice. Earlier in his career, Mr. Helfand served in various management capacities for health systems (Advocate Health Care, University of Chicago Medical Center, and Loyola University Health System) as well as management consulting firms (Deloitte Consulting and Sg2).
